Drawn from the land itself

Every line on your print is a real height above sea level. This is the ground around Abergavenny, lifted into paper layers from the same data as the print above. Your print arrives flat; we've raised the layers here so you can see the land it's drawn from.

  1. Your postcode

We centre the map on it and mark the spot with the sign you choose. Anywhere in the UK works, from a terrace in Treorchy to a farmhouse on Dartmoor.

  2. Real height data

The contours come from survey data: laser-scanned heights every 2 metres across most of England, every 30 metres elsewhere. Hills, valleys and riverbanks sit where they really are.

  3. Drawn, checked and printed

We tune the contour spacing to suit your landscape, check every map by eye, then print it to order on the paper you pick. Allow up to 5 working days, though it's often sooner.

    What will yours say?

    Questions

Is the preview my actual map?

Not yet. The preview uses our Abergavenny example so you can see how your colourway, words and sign will look. Your print is drawn from the height data around your own postcode.

How much area does the map show?

About 9 kilometres across, which takes in your neighbourhood and the hills around it. If you'd like a closer or wider view, say so in the note for the mapmaker.

My area is fairly flat. Will it still look good?

Yes. We tighten the contour spacing for flatter places so gentle rises and river valleys still show. Cities like Bristol and Cardiff make lovely maps.

    Does it come framed?

We make the print itself, in standard frame-ready sizes, so a high-street frame or your local framer will fit it perfectly. The frames on this page are there to help you picture it.

    How long will it take?

Every map is drawn, checked and printed to order, so allow up to 5 working days for us to prepare yours. It's often sooner. It then travels free by Royal Mail 1st Class.

Can I choose my own colours?

Yes. Pick Your own colours in step 2, then choose the background, lines, low ground, high ground and marker. The preview changes as you go. It adds £5, because we check and tune every custom palette by hand before it prints.
